Nikrad Shahnavaz, MD

Nikrad Shahnavaz is an Associate Professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases of the Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Shahnavaz is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine. He specializes in motility disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease, swallowing disorders, colon cancer screening and other related conditions. He collaborates with Winship physicians to treat patients with gastrointestinal complications due to amyloidosis.

Dr. Shahnavaz completed his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. He completed his residency and fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Shahnavaz is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and is currently a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society.

Nikrad Shahnavaz has special interest in treating conditions like achalasia, colon cancer, dysphagia, gastroesophageal reflux, gastrointestinal motility etc. He has published multiple scientific articles and abstracts, co-authored a book on gastroenterology, presented in several national and international conferences, and been actively involved in the education of medical students, internal medicine residents and gastroenterology fellows.
