John Clarke, MD

Dr. John Clarke is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Division at Stanford University where he is also the Director of the Esophageal Program. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons followed by residency in internal medicine from Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowship from Johns Hopkins University, Department of Gastroenterology. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology from American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Clarke’s career has combined research, education and clinical care. His clinical areas of expertise include achalasia, dysphagia, eosinophilic esophagitis, esophageal dysmotility, gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastroparesis, GI-manifestations of scleroderma and GI dysmotility.

From an education standpoint, Dr. Clarke has lectured in over a dozen countries, authored over 25 textbook chapters and serves on the educational affairs committee of the American College of Gastroenterology.
